Baritone

The Dutch baritone Maarten Koningsberger has appeared in opera's from Monteverdi to Mozart to Menotti. This wide range of styles is also reflected in his song recitals, with pianists as Graham Johnson and Rudolf Jansen or with lutenist Fred Jacobs.

He is a regular guest at many other mayor concerthalls (Amsterdam Concertgebouw). He has been invited Festivals all over the world. His concert tours include Europe, South Africa, the Far East, Israel and Canada, always highly acclaimed by the press. Maarten Koningsberger has sung with orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightment, Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Les Arts Florissants, Tafelmusic, Les Talents Lyriques, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nederlands Philharmonic Orchestra under conductors such as Ton Koopman, William Christie, Richard Egarr, Gustav Leonhardt, René Jacobs, Christophe Rousset, Marin Alsop, Arnold Östman, Gennady Roshdensvensky, Jaap van Sweeden and Jeffrey Tate.

He made more than 20 CD-recordings, including ³Music of the Spheres² (Lute- and consortsongs of the 17th century), Baroque Cantates (Campras, Charpentier, Van Blankenburg) and Lieder (a.o. ³Hyperion Schubert Edition², Schubert¹s ³Winter-reise² and ³Die schöne Müllerin²) and French Mélodies (a.o. Fauré and Milhaud) as well as opera and oratorio (a.o. ŒLes Grands Motets de Mondonville¹ with Les Arts Florissants).

Future plans include a cd with Brahms Lieder (2007) and in a cd with Solo Songs of Henry Purcell, commemorating his 350th birthday in 2009.

Maarten Koningsberger teaches at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music and the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and is regularly invited for masterclasses all over the world.

Né aux Pays-Bas, Maarten Koningsberger étudie le chant avec Max van Egmond, Udo Reinemann, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf et Margreet Honig. Il intègre l’école d’Art Lyrique de l’Opéra de Paris et participe à de nombreuses productions en France et en Italie. On le connaît aussi comme interprète de lieder et de Mélodies. Il effectue des tournées en Europe, au moyen-Orient et en Amérique du Sud et se produit à la radio et à la télévision.

Parmi les points forts de sa carrière, citons " Péllèas et Mélissande " de Debussy (rôle de Péllèas), " Didon & Enée " de Purcell (rôle d’Enée), " Das klagende Lied " de Mahler, " Apollon & Daphne " de Haendel...

Il enseigne actuellement au CNSM de Rotterdam et au Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles.
