Harp

Marie-Pierre Langlamet was born in Grenoble (France) in 1967, and received her first musical instruction at the Nice Conservatoire. She studied harp with Elisabeth Fontan-Binoche, and attended masterclasses with Lily Laskine and Jacqueline Borot. Already in early years she was winning international competitions, such as the 2nd prize (top prize) of the Maria Korchinska competition in the Isle of Man (UK) in 1983, the 1st prize of the Louise Charpentier Competition (Paris) in 1984, and the 2nd prize (top prize) of the CIEM in Geneva in 1986.

At 17 years of age, she became the principal harpist of the Nice Opera Orchestra. A scholarship enabled her to continue her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music inPhiladelphia. Soon afterwards, in 1988, she was appointed assistant principal harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York (chief conductor James Levine), where she worked for five years. During this time she continued pursuing her career as a soloist and chamber musician, and in 1992 won first prize at the International Harp Competition in Israel, a competition that is widely regarded as the most important for the instrument.

Marie-Pierre Langlamet is also a 1994 Juventus Laureate.

In 1993 she became principal harpist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle), the position she still holds today.

She has performed as soloist with numerous renowned orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, the Lille national Orchestra, the swiss radio orchestra of Lugano…. Her solo engagements have brought her to perform in such halls as the Suntory Hall (Tokyo), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), the Royal Albert Hall (London), the Avery Fisher Hall (New York), the Grosses Festspielhaus (Salzburg), the Philharmonie (Berlin), the KKL (Luzern)...and many others.

Née en 1967, Marie-Pierre Langlamet effectue ses études musicales au conservatoire de Nice, auprès d'Elizabeth Fontan, et suit les masterclasses de Jacqueline Borot et Lily Laskine. Elle part ensuite aux Etats-Unis pour approfondir sa formation au Curtis Institute of Music de Philadelphie pendant deux ans et demi.

Elle remporte très tôt de nombreux prix internationaux : en 1983, elle est première lauréate (avec le 2ème prix) du Concours International Maria Korchinska de l'île de Mann (UK). En 1984, elle obtient le premier prix du Concours Louise Charpentier à Paris, et en 1986, le 2ème prix (première lauréate) du C.I.E.M. de Genève.
En 1989, elle remporte également le 1er prix du "Concert Artists Guild" de New-York et, en 1992, le premier prix du Concours International de Harpe d'Israël, reconnu comme le plus important pour cet instrument.
Elle est aussi lauréate Juventus 94 (Conseil de l'Europe).

Depuis 1993, Marie-Pierre Langlamet est harpe solo de l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin (direction : Simon Rattle), après avoir occupé le même poste à l'Orchestre de Nice puis à l'Orchestre du Metropolitan Opera de New York de 1988 à 1993 (direction James Levine).

Parallèlement, Marie-Pierre Langlamet poursuit sa carrière de soliste et de chambriste. Elle a joué notamment avec l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin, le Philharmonique d'Israël, l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, l’Orchestre National de Lille, l'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, l’Orchestre de la Radio Suisse de Lugano…
Elle s’est produite en soliste à la Philharmonie de Berlin, au Suntory Hall de Tokyo, au Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam, au Royal Albert Hall de Londre, au Avery Fisher Hall de New York, au Festpielhaus de Salzburg, au KKL de Lucerne…

Le prix Cino del Duca de l’académie des Beaux Arts lui a été décerné pour l’année 2003. 

Marie-Pierre Langlamet a enregistré, pour EMI , le Concerto pour Flûte et Harpe de W.A. Mozart avec Emmanuel Pahud et l'Orchestre Philharmonique de Berlin dirigé par Claudio Abbado (EMI, 5 563652 2).
Pour EMI également, la fantaisie pour violon et harpe de Camille Saint-Säens avec Renaud Capuçon.
Pour Egan, un disque consacré à des études de divers compositeurs pour harpe solo.
Et pour Assai, le concerto d’ Alberto Ginastera avec l’orchestre de Picardie sous la direction d’Edmon Colomer.
