Principal Flute of the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Denis has recently won prizes at some of the world's most prestigious international solo flute competitions, including the Kobe (2001), Carl Nielsen (2002), Munich ARD (2004), Jean-Pierre Rampal (2005), Aurele Nicolet (2006) and Maxence Larrieu Competitions (2007). Since the age of 11 Denis has been playing in Russia's premier concert halls, such as the Big Conservatoire Hall, Tchaikovsky Concert Hall etc. In year 2000 he left Russia to study with professor William Bennett (OBE) at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After his graduation in 2004 he has been awarded the fellowship from RAM and in 2005 won his first orchestra job in Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra in Finland. In January 2008 he won Principal Flute in Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and later same year, he hit the headlines by winning the solo flute chair in the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
