F.A.Q:
Are the halls of residence located on the
premises where the courses are delivered?
No. The "Résidence Universitaire Montebello" is within a walking
distance of approximately 15 minutes from the Conservatory.
If I am a minor, are my parents allowed to share my room even if they are not participants of the Academy?
No. The rooms are only single rooms but they can also have their own room if you are a minor. The price for an accompanying parent is
€320 Euros for a single room accommodation and it includes breakfast,
lunch, dinner and a bus pass.
Is our room equipped with a kitchenette?
No, the rooms of "Résidence Universitaire Montebello" are only
equipped with a bed, a washbasin, a shower, toilet, refrigerator and
wifi. The Academy will cater for your
breakfast, lunch and dinner.
What is the language of instruction?
Each professor of the Academy speaks at least French and/or
English.
Should we send a recording to be accepted at the Academy?
Only singers are requested to send a CD, a short biography and a letter of
recommendation together with their application form, indicating the applicant's name as
well as the chosen master class and dates at the following address:
Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice
Cloître du Monastère de Cimiez
F06000 Nice
If you choose several professors, you have to send us the corresponding number of CDs.
It is mandatory for all applicants having applied to upload their
short biography on their internet student account (you will receive a username and a password once
your registration is approved).
Are we required to pass an audition to be accepted on a course?
The student selection is made upon prior file examination.
For instrumentalists, professors may conduct an audition at the beginning of the training
course in order to check the level of each student.
How many hours of individual coaching are included in the training course?
Each professor structures his master class in his own method.
However, you will
have at least 3 hours of individual coaching spread over one week. Your day will therefore
be divided between your own individual sessions, attending your
classmates' individual
sessions and your hours of practice.
How many students are there in one class?
It depends on the professor's choice and the course being taught. Some of them
impose a Numerus Clausus.
Is it possible to follow two different courses during the same
week?
Yes, it is perfectly possible. Yet, you should not forget to mention it to your
professors on the very first day so that you may manage your timetable in the best
possible way.
Should we choose a specific repertoire for the training course?
Yes. In fact, you should prefer this option. You may choose to work on a
repertoire specially selected for the training course. You will be able to register your
selection in your student account on the internet so that your professor is aware of
it (you will receive a username and a password once
your registration is approved).
Will we perform in student concerts?
All students can register but the professor together with the person in charge of
the concert programme carry out a selection exercise in order to avoid too lengthy
concerts.
Are there special rooms available for individual practice?
Yes. Each student should book his/her practice studio for a maximum of 3
hours per day. Students staying at
the Academy may also work at the "Résidence Universitaire Montebello" during
the day.
Are there any international participants?
There are over 50 different countries represented at the Academy. You will thus
be able to meet musicians from different countries of the world.
Can we attend the concerts of the festival "Les Nuits
Musicales de Nice" free of charge?
Yes, it is included in the course fees, provided there are seats available and
depending on the chosen dates.
When is the closing date for registration?
No closing date. But be carefull, master classes are full rapidly.
Can I book an extra night in your residence?
We can eventually accept some extra nights between sessions but not at
the very beginning of the Academy, neither at the very last end. Be
carefull : we'll be able to confirm your extra nights only a few days
before the beginning of the Academy.
How much is one extra night?
40€ Euros.
